From the Archives: A Tiered Chocolate Cake
I almost forgot this cake ever existed! I made it as a welcome present for two housemates who turned out to suck! This cake was way better than them.
But for real, I love tiered cakes. They're not really much harder to make than the alternative, and they're so effing pretty. I haven't made a tiered cake in a few months, but maybe I'll make one when Heather is back in town or for the next Get Busy house party.

Carmel Pear Terrine
Today I tried my luck at a Carmel Pear Terrine. I'm no Martha Stewart, but I think it turned out okay. I managed to use 10 out of 12 of the pears I had left from the CSA.
Pear Upside-Down Cake & Stegosauri Peach Pie
I don't usually eat pears, but I got a ton of them from my CSA this week. I tried my hands at a pear upside down cake. It was okay for a week night bake, but I think I can do better!
Here's a winner! I'm calling it Stegosauri Peach Pie. When you're making a pie crust, it's really important that the crust be cold when you're working with it. That doesn't work well on a short schedule. I wanted to make a lattice crust, but my dough was too soft. So, I improvised. Let's pretend this was for a ten-year-old's birthday.
Eating fruit sweetened Soy Delicious on a pie with 1 3/4 c Earth balance in the crust is like getting a diet soda at McDonalds.
The recipe for the crust and the pie was veganized from Killer Pies.
